It is natural as a coach, mentor, or leader to want to help people and share yourself with the world. We alchemize our experiences, successes, failures, transformed trauma, and life lessons, blending them with our innate gifts to create offerings birthed from the soul.
Yet we often forget how significant those resources are, and what happens when we are not mindful in how we share them. Without awareness and protection, we become drained, overwhelmed, and unbalanced. We lose resonance and disconnect from our purpose, our work, and those we serve.
I see this frequently in clients, and especially among colleagues in this space.
So how do we address resource leaks and begin to restore balance?

List your resources and rank them according to the effort they require each week. Common ones include time, energy, money, health, relationships, faith, and attention. You may also have unique resources such as specific skills or products.
Hours available for work, rest, and personal activities
Physical, mental, and emotional capacity
Focus and presence you can dedicate to tasks
Choose your top three and take an honest look at how you are using them. For example, with time, track your daily work and personal schedule, downtime, events, self care, and volunteering. Notice patterns. Do you procrastinate? Do you struggle with focus or boundaries? How do your activities make you feel physically, emotionally, and spiritually?
Approach this evaluation with compassion, not judgment. Gratitude for what you already do will open the door to deeper clarity.
Track how you're currently using your resources
Notice emotional and physical responses
Recognize recurring behaviors
Appreciate what's working well

For each resource, ask:
Is this how I wish to grow?
Is this getting me closer to the life and legacy I want?
If the answer is not yes, move on to the next step.
Reflect on what needs to be released, revised, or retained so harmony can return. If time is your biggest drain, perhaps you need to release practices that no longer serve you, revise systems to create more ease, or rebalance how much time is devoted to self care versus productivity.
This step is less about rushing into action and more about sitting in awareness. When you give yourself space, patterns and insights begin to emerge. Sometimes clarity arrives in days, other times in weeks, but it will come if you stay present.
Let go of what no longer serves your highest good
Adjust systems and approaches for better alignment
Keep what's working well and supports your growth
This exercise is worth revisiting whenever you feel drained, uninspired, or overwhelmed.
Mindfully addressing resource leaks reconnects you with yourself, the collective, and your purpose. From that place you embody a divine vessel, able to share from love, gratitude, and fulfillment while honoring yourself in the process.
