Life really changed for me after my accident on December 26, 2021. It was significant, and it impacted me in every way. For a while, I truly thought I would have to close my practice.
I have spoken before about injury and revitalization, and today I can honestly say I have more self-esteem and happiness than before. But I will also be honest: there are still situations where I do not always feel valued or valuable. That is hard.
And yet, in the past 72 hours, I have felt more valued and included than I have in a long time. I have felt it in the community I want to belong to. That feeling matters. Because here is the truth: all of us, no matter how we identify, need to feel valuable and accepted.
It is vital for those of us with disabilities to be treated as adults, with dignity and respect. It is not just about livelihood. It is about who we are and how we exist in the world. Over the last few days, I felt awakened. Coming back to work feels disorienting, but I also feel alive, and in this moment, life feels right.

So here is my pep talk to you. Realize that you have value. You have purpose. You can give back to the world no matter what you are facing. Struggles are real, but within each of us is a deep well of value waiting to be seen and shared. Surround yourself with people who embrace you as you are. Speak up for yourself with love and respect. You have ability. You have skill. And you have dignity, a dignity we all have the right to claim.

My message is simple: fly high, smile more, ask for what you need, and be brave with your confidence. Disability is not something to fear or to whisper about. It is not a dirty word. It is part of society, and we are part of society.
We all deserve to feel included, in life, in community, and in the coaching world. Disability is the only minority that anyone can become a part of, so let us be curious and learn more.
That is the mission behind my show Embracing What's Possible with Roxy. We discuss the importance and value of people with disabilities, to educate and encourage those who may not see themselves as disabled, or who fear the stigma, to recognize that disability is not exclusion, it is inclusion.
